Carl Perkins was a singer-songwriter from Tennessee who worked bars with his brother for years. They were always getting into fights so they were known as the Fighting Perkins Brothers.
He often performed his unique version of “Blue Moon Of Kentucky” and after hearing Elvis Presley on the radio singing his version of of the song he thought that the man who produced that song (Sam Phillips) would understand his music so he traveled to Memphis. Perkins recorded for Phillips at the Sun Studio, in Memphis, Tennessee, beginning in 1954.
Carl Perkins helped create rockabilly and rock and roll with his biggest hit being “Blue Suede Shoes” later covered by Elvis Presley plus “Dixie Fried”, “Boppin’ The Blues”, “Your True Love” and more.

Perkins’ songs have been recorded by Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Johnny Cash. Paul McCartney once said that “if there were no Carl Perkins, there would be no Beatles.”
Often referred to as “the King of Rockabilly”, Carl Perkins was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, the Memphis Music Hall of Fame, and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. He also received a Grammy Hall of Fame Award.
This album contains many of Carl Perkins classic originals including “Daddy Sang Bass’, “Standing In The Need Of Love” and “Disciple In Blue Suede Shoes”.
