Description

Carl Perkins was a singer-songwriter who worked bars with his brother for years before hearing Elvis Presley on the radio singing his version of Blue Moon Of Kentucky. He thought that the man who produced that song (Sam Phillips) would understand his music so he traveled to Memphis. Perkins recorded at the Sun Studio, in Memphis, Tennessee, beginning in 1954. He helped create rockabilly and rock and roll with his biggest hit being “Blue Suede Shoes” later covered by Elvis Presley.

“Carl Perkins’ songs personified the rockabilly era, and Carl Perkins’ sound personifies the rockabilly sound more so than anybody involved in it, because he never changed.” – Charlie Daniels. Perkins’ songs have been recorded by Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Johnny Cash. Paul McCartney once said that “if there were no Carl Perkins, there would be no Beatles.”

Often referred to as “the King of Rockabilly”, Carl Perkiins was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, the Memphis Music Hall of Fame, and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. He also received a Grammy Hall of Fame Award.

We are very proud to bring you Carl Perkins – “Goin’ Back To Memphis”.
