Delbert McClinton worked in a bar band, the Straitjackets, who played backing blues artists Sonny Boy Williamson II, Howlin’ Wolf, Lightnin’ Hopkins, and Jimmy Reed. McClinton played harmonica on Bruce Channel’s hit, “Hey! Baby”. On a tour with Channel in the United Kingdom, McClinton taught John Lennon how to play blues harmonica.
Delbert McClinton’s classic “Singing The Blues” has been recorded by almost every blues artist and lots of rock acts as well. This 1993 album is considered one of the most influence blues albums by most music critics.
