Gene Krupa was a band leader, actor, and composer and one of the greatest jazz drummers of all time.
His showmanship on the drums was legendary and he influenced every jazz drummer to this day. His drum solo on “Sing, Sing, Sing” in 1937 created the drum solo in the band. He was one of the first major percussive soloists. Krupa is considered “the founding father of modern drumset” by Modern Drummer magazine
This is a wonderful, previously unreleased, live recording of Gene Krupa and his touring big band. Recorded live during tours of the United States during the 1950’s.
A great collector’s album.
