Description
Nat King Cole was an American singer who first came to prominence as a leading jazz pianist. He was a major force in popular music for three decades and was one of the first African Americans to host a national television show. Musicians started the nickname “King” from the nursery rhyme Old King Cole and it stuck.
Cole formed his Nat King Cole Trio with Oscar Moore on guitar and Wesley Prince on double bass. According to legend, Cole’s singing career started when a drunken customer demanded that he sing “Sweet Lorraine”. Cole said that this fabricated story “sounded good, so I just let it ride.” He often sang between instrumental numbers. As the audiences started requesting more vocal numbers, he sang on more songs. This is the original Nat King Cole Trio.
This is the first of three releases of the Nat King Cole Trio.
This is The Nat King Cole Trio – “Vol.#1”.
