Neil Sedaka is an American pop singer, pianist, composer and record producer. He has sold millions of records as an artist and has written or co-written over 500 songs for himself and collaborating with lyricist Howard Greenfield.
When Sedaka was 13, he met, Howard Greenfield, an aspiring poet and lyricist. They became two of the legendary Brill Building’s composers. In 1960 Neil recorded “Oh Carol” giving him his first Number One record. He followed up with “Stairway to Heaven”, “You Mean Everything to Me”, “Run, Samson, Run”, “Calendar Girl”, “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen” and; his signature song, “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” and more. They also wrote the “Theme from Where the Boys Are“, and Gene Pitney’s hit song, “It Hurts to Be in Love”.
Sedaka is a cousin of the late singer Eydie Gormé.
