This was a privately recorded, closing night performance of Judy Garland at The Palace, unlike the Capitol Records Palace recording.
Sid Luft, Garland’s husband and movie producer, booked Judy into the Palace when the movie studios thought that her career was over. She was a smash hit.
Luft arranged for the closing night on February 24, 1952 be recorded. What resulted was this amazing show. Luft had the audience sing “Auld Land Syne” to Judy which brought her to tears so Judy’s version of “Over The Rainbow” was especially emotional.
This is a must have for all Judy Garland fans.
